Nantucket - Summer 2023

Nantucket

I had plans of updating this blog weekly this summer as I travel through Nantucket, France, Spain and Morocco this summer, but I am off to a lousy start as I fumbled with my blog layout and structure. As we are spending the day catching up before we go offline tomorrow for a week, I figured it was time to not let great be the enemy of good. Just time to show up and write.

Circling back 3 weeks, we spent our first week of summer holiday in Nantucket. I have several good friends who have spent their childhoods summering in Nantucket so I had a treasure chest of information from them. That said, my exploration to find great spots for photography was a little out of their wheelhouse. Luckily I ran into a local photographer on assignment for N Magazine, on the second morning and he shared some great intel, thank you Kit Knoble. A few of my favorite spots are Miacomet beach which was close to where we stayed, Sankaty for the iconic red and white lighthouse, Madequecham for the serenity (I was alone there with my niece and sister in law, and for anyone who has spent time in Nantucket in the summer you know it is hard to find a totally desolate beach), the 'Sconset Bluff Walk for the gorgeous creeping roses and the iconic Old North Wharf.
