When we were planning our month in Brazil, absolutely everyone said Trancoso was a must. Within minutes of arriving we understood why! Trancoso is a charming coastal town located in the state of Bahia. It is known for its Quadrado (central square), beautiful beaches, colorful buildings and historic church called Igreja de São João Batista. Trancoso has a rich cultural heritage, influenced by indigenous, African, and Portuguese cultures and a world famous dish called moqueca (fish stew) that we ate daily.

I went a little off brand, focusing on the vibrant buildings. Alone they were captivating, but with the dense tropical growth of bougainvillea and pink trumpet trees they were mesmerizing. The colors matched the energy of the town.
